Sdn Architects is a design-led practice based in New Delhi, creating socially responsive, environmentally grounded, and experientially meaningful architecture.
Sdn Architects is an architecture practice founded in New Delhi in 2024 by Shadan Khan, a graduate of Jamia Millia Islamia (2021).
The studio engages in residential, housing, commercial, educational, and institutional projects, approaching each commission through functional clarity, spatial coherence, and long-term usability.
Alongside architectural practice, the office undertakes research-driven investigations into climate change, population growth, and resilient urban futures in India. Collaborations with landscape architects, planners, researchers, and allied professionals strengthen environmental intelligence and interdisciplinary thinking within the design process.
The practice operates under the direct authorship and leadership of the Principal Architect, ensuring continuity, critical inquiry, and design integrity from concept through execution.

Approach
Research • Design • Project Management
Architecture should serve people before objects.
We design environments that respond to human behavior, perception, and everyday rituals. Spaces are conceived as lived experiences that support social interaction, emotional well-being, and meaningful engagement.
Every project emerges from its surroundings.
Site conditions, climate, culture, landscape, and historical continuity inform our decisions. We seek architectural solutions that are environmentally responsive and deeply connected to place.
Precision shapes experience.
From spatial sequencing and proportion to construction junctions and tactile finishes, every detail contributes to a coherent architectural narrative. Honest materials, texture, light, and aging are embraced as tools that enrich sensory experience.
Sdn Architects actively investigates the impacts of climate change and population growth in India through collaborative, research-oriented studies.
Working alongside planners, landscape architects, environmental specialists, and researchers, the studio integrates scientific inquiry and environmental intelligence into architectural decision-making.
Research within the practice explores topics such as
- Climate adaptation
- Urban resilience
- Ecological systems
- Resource efficiency
- Future settlement patterns
This interdisciplinary approach strengthens the resilience and long-term relevance of our built work.

Shadan Khan's academic and professional explorations have informed an architectural approach rooted in social responsibility and contextual sensitivity.
His thesis project,
Re-Thinking Hunger Through Architecture
investigated architecture as a medium for addressing social inequity through visual perception, social interaction, and physical participation.
The study proposed architecture as an instrument capable of evoking empathy, strengthening human connection, and confronting the realities of hunger through spatial experience.
These investigations continue to inform the studio's work and its broader commitment toward socially responsive practice.
We consciously reject superficial aesthetics and stylistic excess, focusing instead on architecture that is meaningful, experiential, and enduring.Shadan
